Driving instructor training in Germany

If you want to become a driving instructor in Germany, you have to fulfil certain requirements. These requirements are somewhat similar to those valid in other European countries, but there are some additional details that should be mentioned. First of all, those who want to take part in driving instructor training have to be at least twenty three years old. A secondary school diploma is the minimum requirement regarding education. Of course, candidates have to be driving licence holders and have sufficient experience as drivers in the category they are interested in. Their physical fitness and personality traits are also taken into account. Driving instructor training must take place at a certified driving centre. Courses are quite long and can last even up to eight months, depending on the category. All candidates have to pass examinations. These include written, oral and practical tests. The written and oral part is supposed to test theory knowledge whereas the practical part tests a candidate"s ability to teach on the road and in a classroom environment. Subjects covered by driving instructor training are: pedagogy and psychology, traffic rules, safety on the road, legal aspects and technology of motor vehicles, to name only a few.
